While AAFCO nutrient profiles provide an important benchmark in the pet food industry (and we use those benchmarks in recipe formulation), they are designed around nutrient concentrations - primarily in extruded foods, i.e. kibble - rather than necessarily accounting for how nutrients may be absorbed from fresh, minimally processed whole foods versus highly processed diets.
